NFL Draft Discussion

nfl-draft-2009
My team is the Dallas Cowboys and here is what they did over the weekend.

Western Illinois LB Jason Williams (third round, 69th overall)
Ball State OL Robert Brewster (third round, 75th overall)
Texas A&M QB Stephen McGee (fourth round, 101st overall)
Oregon State DE/OLB Victor Hunter (fourth round, 110th overall)
Texas Tech DE/OLB Brandon Williams (fourth round, 120th overall)
Cincinnati CB/S DeAngelo Smith (fifth round, 143rd overall)
Clemson FS Michael Hamlin (fifth round, 166th overall)
USC K/special teamer David Buehler (fifth round, 172nd overall)
TCU S/LB Stephen Hodge (sixth round, 197th overall)
Virginia TE John Phillips (sixth round, 208th overall)
Cincinnati CB Mike Mickens (seventh round, 227th overall)
Oklahoma WR Manuel Johnson (seventh round, 229th overall

They obviously addressed special teams and defense with the dozen picks they had. Jerry Jones also chose a quarterback in the fourth round. I don’t like this move at all because Stephen McGee has had a disappointing season and he is an option quarterback. His footwork in the pocket is iffy and takes off running slightly quicker than I would like to see. It’s a good thing I’m not signing his checks, right?

The Cleveland Browns did the damn thing on Saturday. For one first round pick they got three players and three picks from the Jets and the Seahawks. Talk about efficiency.

Mark Sanchez is going to be SO much better than Matthew Stafford.

How did your team do? Are you satisfied with the outcome? Were you surprised with any picks? I know you didn’t think Darius Hayward-Bey would get selected before Michael Crabtree. I have one piece of advice for anyone that is going to draft Crabtree in fantasy football:

START HIM WHEN THE SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS PLAY THE OAKLAND RAIDERS.

He is going to TORCH Al Davis for passing him up, much like Randy Moss does to Dallas year after year.

Have Fun.

Thats good to hear from someone who spends his life evaluating draft prospects. He said considering where we picked in each round we got the best value with each pick and said he expects almost every one to contribute….

Dallas was his pick for worst draft of any team due to the fact that there will not be a single impact player from their class.
